| An inspirational teacher at the Royal College of Art, London, and Central Saint Martins from the sixties onwards, John Dougill lives and works in London. "Heaven and Earth is a term which seems to sum up the nature of my obsessions at the moment. I am making images and objects about the sky, and I like to re-visit the sea. Much of the work is direct and matter-of-fact, but at other times it seems to go its own unexpected way. I like work that holds its own on its own terms, but also work that tries to say something about the real world. I try to inhabit both of these positions." (John Dougill, 2009) |
